Intro

I dove into politics during college at the Harvard Institute of Politics, where I found a club of students who work with a university affiliated pollster to analyze a poll released each semester. I participated in the group known as the Harvard Public Opinion Project for multiple years, eventually filling leadership and teaching roles. The polling work was interesting enough that I pursued a career in politics initially, but a desire for a more complex skillset and tangible promotions led me towards coding. Between the polling work and coding, I feel I've gained the following traits and values:

* Attention to detail
* An eagerness to work cooperatively, such as pair programming, group projects, etc.
* Time management, especially during crunch time and tight deadlines
* Overall, just a consistent positive attitude, the most important part! 😁

Welcome to my portfolio site! Here’s a bit about me:

I gained an interest in polling in college and initially worked as a polling analyst for two and a half years. However as time went on I began to desire more marketable skills that were both more complex and utilized by a wider range of firms. I also wanted a clearer path towards promotions and increased responsibility that I could pursue at any place of work. So after taking a few online courses to see if coding would be a good fit, I decided on a career as a software engineer and applied to the coding bootcamp App Academy.

At App Academy I picked up skills including Javascript, Python, React, Redux, HTML, and CSS. What stood out is I discovered I had a passion for collaborating on code, be it pair programming, reviewing a fellow student’s code, or teaching a new concept. It reminded me of the joy of collaborating on a poll with students in college, debating questions, splitting into teams, and meeting periodically to discuss each other's progress.

In addition to picking up skills at App Academy I also worked on a variety of projects. There were two I consider the most notable. The first was a group project, a space themed version of the online marketplace Etzy. The second project was my capstone, a social media application modeled after the site Meetup, but with the theme based off the online video game Overwatch. These days I live in the California Bay Area where I enjoy being close to family. Outside of coding my interests include playing games, watching basketball, enjoying the outdoors, and politics.
